  • [es-pree de less-ka/-iay] (idiom) A witty remark that occurs to you too late, literally on the way down the stairs. The Oxford Dictionary of Quotations defines esprit de l'escalier as, "An untranslatable phrase, the meaning of which is that one only thinks on one's way downstairs of the smart retort one might have made in the drawing room."

I *love* that sculpture, Claire. It's so cool! Thanks for the link to the artist, too.

Have fun drinking lots of whiskey and reading poetry this weekend. I just love it that your family has always done that together. And still does. That's great.

Mine never did anything that neat. If you're ever in the Cleveland area, you and I can pop over to my parents' house and we can all watch Deal or No Deal and drink Diet Cokes!

:)

I'm glad little Moofin is doing good and got some presents. Just so you know, I clicked over here on and off just so I could see his cute little face in your last post. He's adorable.

Have a safe, fun weekend!

I tell you, Frank is living the good life!

straight from new-age cat-book:
when away from cat, visualize being with cat. like a petting session. it can be part of morning meditation, whatever.
i started that when the cats were young and could definitely tell they became less freaked by being alone.

Have a fun weekend, Claire!

Thanks everyone. Have a good weekend, too!

Frank will be fine with his new toys and bed to keep him occupied while you're away. Just expect lots of clinging to and nuzzling with Mom-Claire when you return.

God, I keep coming back to your site and looking at that damn picture. Which is exactly what I do when I'm in the Hirschorn sculpture garden. Can't. Stop. Looking. Even though I know it's my least favorite thing ever and there are Miros just steps away.... geez.
